Welcoming teachers, parents, individuals, students, and children!
Humane education discusses the following issues:
human rights and health
non-human animal welfare and protection
environmental protection
culture
influence of media
consumerism
over-consumption
These issues can be easily infused into Florida Sunshine State Standard curricula. In fact, Florida Statues (233.061) require many of these topics to be discussed in schools. Instead of relying solely on lecturing, humane educators utilize student-centered, progressive educational techniques, such as hands-on activities, to help students learn. Students are educated about important global issues and are encouraged to show compassion and responsibility towards all living beings, while using their unique talents, skills and intelligence to make empowering personal choices that have a positive impact on their own lives, others, and the planet.
